Arctic temperatures give way to warmer weather in Calgary

We made it Calgary, winter is over!
That may be a bit of a stretch but after a couple weeks of arctic temperatures, the rest of the week is filled with daytime highs above the freezing mark.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Eldon Albrecht said it was minus 28 at YYC Calgary International Airport Monday morning and peaked at minus two at 11 p.m. Monday.
But even with temperatures as high as five degrees expected this week, drivers will need to watch for ice, especially during the morning commute.
“Absolutely, so the daytime highs will be above zero but the overtime lows will still creep into the minus single digits so any of the melting that happens in the day will likely refreeze at night,” said Albrecht.
It’s also a good idea to clear catch basins so the melting snow has somewhere to go.
The bottom line is that these temperatures are much closer to normal than minus 30 and even when it does cool down this weekend it will only drop to highs of minus two or three degrees.
