Weekend death in N.E. Calgary deemed homicide

Calgary police say a suspicious death in the community of Marlborough Park over the weekend is now being investigated as a homicide.
Jason Dirks, 46, was identified as the victim following an autopsy performed by the chief medical examiner.
At about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to reports of a disturbance at a home on Margate Place N.E.
They found Dirks in medical distress, and he was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, but he later died.
Police do not believe this is a random incident and the investigation continues.
