Still unclear when seasonal temperatures will arrive in Calgary

Welcome to spring in Alberta — we’re 15 days into the season of renewal, but everything is still looking old and bare thanks to continued cold and snowy weather.

So, when will we get to enjoy seasonal temperatures?

“Things have kind of flipped around on their heads,” Environment Canada Meteorologist Dan Kulak said.

He says Iqaluit, Nunavut is actually warmer than Calgary right now.

“Iqaluit is about five degrees above normal. Calgary is five to ten degrees below normal.”

These seasonal lows can’t stick around forever, but it’s not clear yet when it will warm up.

“At least the next week and a half is going to be below normal. After that, it’s starting to get out there, in terms of our level of predictability,” Kulak said.

The good news is, Environment Canada is forecasting highs above zero next week.
