Airdrie RCMP looking for suspects in ‘sly theft’

More than $2,500 in over the counter drugs were stolen from a Shoppers Drug Mart in Airdrie, and RCMP has asked the public for help looking for two male suspects.

The thefts occurred at about 7 p.m. February 22, at the store’s location on Coopers Boulevard. Const. Dan Martin said two men entered the store. They appeared not to know each other.

“One male grabbed a shopping cart and went up and down the aisles and grabbed some expensive items,” said Const. Martin. “The items placed in the shopping cart were also in the reusable shopping bag. The cart was placed near the exit, the other male then went outside and grabbed those bags.”

Mounties said the second suspect ran off with the bags of medication. The theft wasn’t noticed until the next day. Surveillance footage captured one of the men in question.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Airdrie RCMP.
