Calgary man passes away in Mexico hospital

On Saturday night Calgary man, Troy Black, passed away in Mexico in hospital, after going into cardiac arrest.

Troy and his wife Lindsay were on vacation in Puerto Vallarta when he became ill.

It was discovered that he had a tear in his esophagus, he was then on life support in hospital and required blood transfusions.

That’s when Lindsay and family friend Cole Porter put out a call on social media for blood donations.

Porter used to live next door to Troy and Lindsay.

“Troy was one of those people that would just give you the shirt…off his back if you asked for it, he was always very supportive of his friends,” she said.

They received an immense amount of support via social media when they asked for donors.

“I know it’s so easy these days on social media just to read something and pass by, but the fact that everybody took, you know, one minute to just share something, or tag a friend in it,” said Porter.

Troy’s family and friends, say they are so thankful for the support they received. However, they are encouraging people to continue to support the blood bank in Puerto Vallarta.

“Go down and donate blood because they don’t have a lot in their blood bank there,” she said.

Friends and family say they are currently making arrangements to bring Troy home.
