Film screening tackles topic of genetically-modified foods

An agriculture marketing group is hoping a showing of the film ‘Food Evolution’ bridges the divide between rural Canadians and urbanites.

One hundred and fifty people will be taking in the film Tuesday night at the Cardel Theatre, tackling the topic of genetically-modified foods.

“This has led to consumers being confused and fearful about how their food is produced,” said Teresa Falk, President of the Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Agri-marketing Association.

She hopes the film sparks conversation.

“We would really encourage anyone who is looking for more information on GMOs, organic, any of those buzzwords that are currently being used, we’d really encourage those people to watch this movie,” she said.

While Tuesday night’s event is already sold out, Falk is hoping it encourages more people to check out the movie on their own and says the film has been well received by people on both sides of the debate.
