Hitmen beat Blazers in the shootout

Trailing 5-2 with less than five minutes remaining in the third period the Calgary Hitmen roared back to defeat the Kamloops Blazers 6-5 in a shootout on Saturday night at Sandman Centre.
Carson Focht completed the comeback netting the shootout winner while Tristen Nielsen (3a) led all Hitmen with three points.
Jakob Stukel scored twice for the visitors including the tying goal with 55 seconds remaining.
Mark Kastelic, Dakota Krebs, and Egor Zamula tallied singles.
For Zamula, it was his first career goal in the Western Hockey League.
Nick Chyzowski paced the Kamloops attack with two goals and an assist while Luc Smith added a pair of helpers.
Matthew Armitage went the distance in the Hitmen net making 36 saves through overtime and was perfect on two Kamloops shootout attempts to record his first career WHL win.
Calgary’s seven-game road trip resumes in Alberta next week as they visit the Red Deer Rebels on Wednesday, Feb. 7 before heading to Medicine Hat (Feb. 9).
Hitmen will then return home to the Scotiabank Saddledome for a rematch with the Tigers on Sunday, Feb. 11.
