Handful of Calgary families facing hard times can breathe easier

It’s a new start for 10 deserving families in Calgary.

This week they moved into a supported housing apartment building in Crescent Heights.

Inn from the Cold’s Executive Director Abe Brown told CityNews, these are families who fell on hard economic times.

“They’ve lost their job, we all know how tough it is out there,” he said. “Many others are newcomers to Canada who have maybe had some struggles with their sponsors, and maybe their supporters have kind of left them high-and-dry, and so I’m so grateful that Inn from the Cold is there to support these families.”

Brown said most of the affordable housing in the city is two bedrooms, or smaller, but in the second Journey House, all units are three bedrooms to accommodate larger families.
