Calgary airport ready for influx of snow

Officials at YYC Calgary International Airport say they’re ready for the incoming blast from ‘Old Man Winter’.

Manager of Corporate Communications for the Airport Authority Sarah Urbanowski says their crews are ready to go, keeping those runways free and clear.

“We’ve got about 16 crews and pieces of equipment that are going to be covering all the critical surfaces and making sure planes can land and depart and passengers are most importantly safe when they’re landing,” she said.

Urbanowski’s best advice, monitor the airlines for any cancellation or changes in time and get to the airport early.

This week is slated to be their busiest of the year in advance of Christmas with the majority of people taking off on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd.
