Road crews look to shift to priority two routes

It’s a 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all hands on deck job for city road crews dealing with this early November blast of winter.

The Friday afternoon commute was, once again, a long one for many drivers spinning tires trying to navigate the icy and snowy streets.

Roads spokesperson Anna Melnick tells 660 NEWS, they are still on day one of the seven-day snow removal plan.

“They are continuing to plow priority one routes at the moment, but because the snow has sort of dissipated they will start working on priority two probably tomorrow evening we expect to finish priority one by tomorrow evening,” said Melnick. “Those priority two routes are the bus routes and the high volumes roads in busy residential areas.”

Melnick says they have more than 100 pieces of equipment out working.

City police say people aren’t getting the message about warming up vehicles in this cold weather.

Seven vehicles were stolen this morning after the drivers left them unattended.
