Adult zoo night: whooping it up for the Whooping Crane

It’s a zoo night for the big kids!

The Calgary Zoo is hosting a Canada 150 birthday celebration, Thursday night.

Lead media relations with the Calgary Zoo, Trish Exton-Parder says attendees should expect animal friendly fun, with an adult twist.

“We’ve got lots of entertainment lined up,” she says. “We’ve even got adult style crafts for the night. We’ve got a number of restaurants and caterers that are going to be on hand to let people sample some food as they stroll through the Canadian Wilds.”

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with a wander through the Canadian Wilds, and wraps up at the Safari Lodge at 10 p.m.

“It’s an adults only event, but you can kind of be a kid for a night, [because] we’ve got activities that get people chatting and having a bit of fun,” Exton-Parder adds.

And yes, for those curious, there will be alcohol. Beer and wine tastings will be available throughout the evening.

“Picture yourself getting out into the country and taking a walk through the Rockies and having an opportunity to see the bears and the cougars and the wolves.”

Tickets are available at the Calgary Zoo website. Proceeds from the event will support conservation, specifically helping the Whooping Crane.
