Majority of Canadians support legal pot, but worry organized crime will continue: poll

Thursday is 4/20, and a new study shows Canadians mostly support the draft legislation legalizing pot put forward by the federal government.

According to an Angus Reid Poll, 63 per cent of us approve of the bill which is expected to legalize recreational marijuana by July next year.

However, not everybody thinks it will achieve its goal in preventing high-driving, and keeping pot out of the hands of youngsters.

Almost half of us feel punishments won’t be harsh enough for high driving to prevent it from occurring, while two thirds say the bill won’t stop young people from obtaining weed.

And just more than half say organized crime will continue to be involved in selling pot, even after it’s legalized.
