Drugs, weapons confiscated in investigation near school playground

Throwing knives and a flare gun modified to shoot shotgun rounds were among the weapons seized during a drug trafficking investigation near a Calgary school.

Police followed tips from neighbours and arrested a man last month at 17 Avenue and 18 Street SW, and then searched a home on 18 Avenue SW.

Along with the weapons, they found drugs including meth, heroin and LSD.

Police say while no drugs were sold to children, the drug trafficking happened directly beside a school playground where children are regularly present.

Charged are Terry Peter Junior Ketlo, 35, of Calgary, Tyler John Hartman, 37, of Calgary, and Brittany Leigh Otienbeit, 31, of Calgary.

Three people were arrested and face various charges including drug trafficking.
