Thousands get inspired at We Day celebrations

Over 15,000 students crammed into the Saddledome on Wednesday for We Day, a celebration of young people in Alberta who have made a difference.
If you’re not familiar with We Day, it’s a rock concert-like atmosphere with celebraties sharing ideas with kids looking to do good in their communties, or even across the world.
The thousands in attendance were chosen because they’ve already made strides that way, and We founder Craig Kielburger says it’s evidence kids today are looking to make a difference.
“And when you give them the opportunity, they will respond. We’re celebrating kids who see the realities of the world, like Fort Mac Strong. We’re celebrating kids who wanted to reach out and students here who organized sometheing call We Rebuild. Or celebrating kids who are gearing up for Halloween, where they’re doing We Scare Hunger, collecting food for local food banks.”
Among those delivering inspirational messages to the kids, country star Brett Kissel, the prime minister’s mom Margaret Trudeau and 80s pop star Paula Abdul.
