CFIB marks Small Business Saturday

Calgarians are being asked to ‘Shop Small’ on October 22 to help mark Small Business Saturday.

The day is hosted by the Canadian Federation of Independent Business.

Spokesperson Amber Ruddy says the goal is to show appreciation to local businesses that contribute so much to the city.

“The directory that we have, it’s shopsmallbiz.ca – businesses can go on and create a free listing, and consumers can go on, type in their postal code and their city, and find those hidden gems in their community,” she explained.

The CFIB says small business owners employ about 70 per cent of the private sector labour force and create the bulk of new jobs.
