Police arrest Didsbury man after he allegedly rams two Calgary Police cruisers in stolen vehicle

A Didsbury man’s crime spree has come to an end after he was stopped outside of the community in connection to a string of incidents in Calgary, Airdrie and his own community.

It started just before 8 o’clock Monday morning when police first became aware of a stolen Cadillac Escalade that had been taken from Saddleridge.

The truck had been taken from a limo company and was found a short time later with help from GPS.

“We attempted to stop the vehicle with our marked police unit, when we had it blocked in, the vehicle actually rammed both marked police vehicles to get away from the block. It ended up in a remote area just northwest of Didsbury,” said Calgary Police Detective Andy Nguyen.

According to the RCMP, the SUV had also been involved in a gas and dash in Airdrie before making its way to Didsbury.

The vehicle was travelling normally within the town and pulled into a second gas station, however spotted a marked police car close by and left the gas station without stopping.

Officers deployed a spike belt near a stop sign and the SUV carried on out of town on two damaged tires before coming to stop in a rural field.

That’s when Mounties say the driver got out and fled on foot but was caught a short time later.

He’s since been turned over to the Calgary Police.

Thankfully no first responders were hurt, Nguyen says damage to their cruisers is extensive.

Twenty-six year old Jesse James Hoffman of Didsbury is facing several charges.
