The combination of a security system and a fire alarm helped save a home in the northwest community Hamptons from a blaze Thursday evening.
Calgary Fire Department Battalion Chief Stu Laird said the homeowners were away when firefighters were alerted of the fire in the 0 to 100 block of Hampshire Grove around 8 p.m.
“Firefighters then initiated an aggressive interior attack that contained the fire to the kitchen area with no further extension in the home and remove residual smoke from the structure,” Laird said.
Laird said it’s a great example of how a working smoke alarm can save lives and help reduce damage of homes.
