Anyone hoping to check out an Edmonton Oilers game or a concert at Rogers Place better bring some coin for street parking when the new area opens to the public.
Edmonton has announced it will start charging $3.50 an hour on event nights outside the new facility.
They will also allow patrons to charge for 5 hour increments instead of the previous two hour limit.
It’s a huge contrast to Calgary and the Calgary Parking Authority where parking remains free across the city after 6 pm.
A spokesperson for the CPA says they have no plans to change that in the future.
Most zones across Calgary are patrolled from 9 am to 6 pm with the exception of a few in the downtown core which starts charging at 7 o’clock in the morning.
