Calgarian preparing to row to France alone

Laval St. Germain is just days away from embarking on a solo ocean voyage.

St. Germain will row across the Atlantic and arrive in France about 90 to 100 days later.

The Calgary adventurer is now in the final preparation stage trying to anticipate every possible emergency or need.

“Sheepskin is a good way to prevent bed sores, it’s also a great way to protect your butt when you’re sitting on an ocean rowing seat for up to three months, so I have medical sheepskins I wanted to buy,” she explained. “Little things that seem not that important here but I think after 80-90 days there, it could be the most important thing of the kit that I have.”

St. Germain has raised about $22,000 so far for the Tom Baker Cancer Clinical Trials.

He’ll leave Halifax sometime between June 10 and June 12, depending on the weather.
