Olympic Plaza and its surrounding area is going to be very busy over the next few days, as people will be celebrating the 30th annual Calgary International Children’s Festival.

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi kicked off the event on Wednesday.

Carri Clarke, the festival’s board chair, says there will be a lot for people to take part in.

“Over 50,000 arts experiences will take place this year for 100 schools, over 500 volunteers, 75 artists, dozens of technicians and staff, and of course, the thousands of Calgary children and their family members,” she said.

There are a number of free performances on the schedule, including clowns and jugglers, barn dancing, and Bollywood workshops.

Tickets are still available. For more information, visit the festival’s website.
