How the 2016 Juno Awards are shaping up

In just a few days, Canada’s top artists will descend on Calgary for the 45th annual Juno Awards.

It’s going to be a long few days at the Scotiabank Saddledome for crews who lost a day of work because of the holiday.

Juno host and Calgary-native Jann Arden, Alessia Cara, Walk Off the Earth, The Weeknd and Shawn Mendes are among those appearing on Sunday night’s show.

Supervising producer Lindsay Cox said the Junos have been well received in our city.

“You have an incredible music scene out here and I think that really has been represented and I think that the show hasn’t been here since 2008,” she explained. “We have fantastic artists on the show and I think that knowing that for a price of a ticket you can see all those incredible artists.

“The show will be sold out, which is something that’s exciting for us. There is going to be 10,900 people here on Sunday night, which is a lot and we’re really excited about the broadcast and the number of people who’ve really responded.” Cox Said.

Technical producer Karel Noordover said artists will be performing on a backdrop that’s bigger than ever before.

“We’re at 150 LD panels; it’s about 40 million pixels, so it should be a very entertaining show,” Noordover said.

The Junos air live from the Scotiabank Saddledome on April 3rd.
