Scouts Canada funding boost means more well-rounded and confident kids

Thanks to big funding boost, more kids can learn camping and survival skills in the Scouts!

An ongoing program called ‘No One Left Behind’ recently had its funding almost doubled.

Andrew Price with Scouts Canada says the program enlisted more than 2,700 under-privileged youth last year in activities they wouldn’t normally have access to.

“Taking part in outdoor camping adventures and things like that require some equipment, and access to that equipment can’t always be afforded by every family,” says Price.

“So, our program basically offers supports both for the membership fee portion, as well as some funds enable youth to go camping, or go paddling, and access the equipment either through rentals or purchase.”

Price says scouting helps both boys and girls become more well-rounded, confident and capable.

He says a $200,000 funding boost should also allow them to double the number of kids they help.
