Burnco ends labour dispute

A labour dispute at the Burnco Rock Products plant in Calgary is over.

The company and the Teamsters Local Union 362 reached an agreement Thursday evening, but no specific details have been released.

Michael Powell, CEO of Burnco, told 660 NEWS, a fair agreement had been reached, ensuring all employees would keep working.

“I’d rather not go into the specific terms of the deal,” Powell said. “I can say that both parties made some moves and got the deal done.”

Bernie Haggarty of Teamsters said in a statement, neither side got everything it wanted, but the agreement will guarantee respect in the workplace.

The lockout ended, and normal operations and service levels are expected to resume by Monday, August 17th.

660 NEWS reached out to the union Thursday night, but it has yet to comment.
