Cowtown Rodeo raising money to send girls in Nepal to school

A big fundraiser Friday to help young girls go to school in Nepal.

It’s the inaugural Cowtown Rodeo, including a motor cross show, outdoor concert, barbeque dinner, and more.

Trevor Ironside with Medical Mercy Canada says the proceeds will go to the Karuna Girls College in Lumbini, Nepal.

“We’ve got about 135 girls, this past year in school, and we’re going to ramp it up to 250, hopefully in the next year, year to two (years), and eventually get it to 500,” he said.

The Society of Petroleum Engineers is hosting the rodeo at the Girletz Ranch in Rocky View County.

Buses leave Flames Central after the Stampede Parade, and the event starts at 3 p.m.
