Thirty per cent of Canadians check e-mail while on vacation: survey

Ever go on vacation and come back feeling like you never left at all?

According to a new survey from CareerBuilder.ca, three in ten Canadians aren’t leaving work behind, and checking e-mails while on holiday.

While the majority of workers plan to take time off this year, 17 per cent say they can’t, because they simply can’t afford to.

Mark Bania, Managing Director of Career Builder Canada, has a few tips to separate business from pleasure: he says get work done ahead of your break for peace of mind, and set boundaries with your co-workers so they know who else they can contact while you’re away.

For those who may not have the money to take a trip this summer, Bania suggests a “staycation”; just having a few days off to relax and spend time with friends and family can do wonders for your well-being.
