Calaway Park opens new log ride

It was a perfect day for a bit of a splash on Saturday.

Calgary’s new log ride, Timber Falls, officially opened its flood gates at Calaway Park.

The new addition to the amusement park journeys through three interactive buildings and transports passengers to the Timber Falls Sawmill.

The four-minute ride has three high velocity drops and a zigzag river.

General Manager Bob Williams tells 660News, it’s twice as fast as the park’s old log ride!

“The water flow is four to eight feet per second; the historical old ride was about two to four feet per second,” Williams said.

It’s also environmentally-friendly!

“The water retention is slightly over 95 per cent. If we lose any water it’s mainly due to, you know, just in the air.”

And if you don’t want to take on Timber Falls, you can shoot water cannons from a viewing area.
