Philanthropist to be honoured after swimming 300,000th lap over 23 years

While Calgarians are getting their workout in at the Eau Claire YMCA Friday morning, they’ll notice a very special gathering at the swimming pool.
That’s because philanthropist Jim Gray will be completing at 23-year journey with his 300,000th lap and YMCA Calgary will be renaming the facility in his honour.
To celebrate, Mayor Naheed Nenshi, Premier Jim Prentice and ‘Man in Motion’ Rick Hansen will be speaking.
Twenty-five Calgary executives will also jump into the pool fully-clothed.
The Flames Foundation For Life will be launching a fundraising campaign to raise $3 million in his honour as well.
