New York, Ottawa and now Sydney; The lone-wolf attack is becoming a more familiar scenario in the western world.
According to a local political scientist, it is a tactic that is becoming more and more used by radicals looking to assert their agenda.
Michael Zekulin, with the University of Calgary, tells 660News it is become the new reality for governments in Canada, the U-S and Australia.
He described ‘lone wolves’ as types who become sympathetic to the ideology.
“They have very little, if any, contact with anybody officially in any type of organization,” Zekulin said.
He believes the solution is a multi-faceted and well-rounded approach by creating a counter-narrative.
