Mother pleads guilty to abducting her daughters

49-year-old Trina Meisel pleaded guilty to abduction and breaching a court order in Lethbridge Provincial Court on Thursday.

The girls, aged 12 and 6, disappeared last May during recess from a school near Vulcan, Alta.

They were found about a week later in British Columbia unharmed after police issued an Amber Alert.

Meisel was sentenced to six months in prison and probation, but with credit for time served in custody, she won’t spend any additional time behind bars.

She told the court she will regret what she did for the rest of her life.
