Positive Post-it Day born out of bullying in one Airdrie High School

One Airdrie teen’s message of positivity, after being bulled over social media, has now become the latest thing to go viral across Southern Alberta.

It all began on September 25th, after Caitlin Prater Haacke found someone had broken into her locker and used her iPad to post a status saying “she should die.”

The George McDougall High School student decided to capitalize on her torment and left positive Post-its on all of the school’s 850 lockers, before students arrived on October 6th.

Teachers pulled the young girl out of class and yelled at her for leaving the notes.

She was told to clean up the mess after some of them had fallen to the floor.

Word has now gotten out and one of Prater-Haacke’s biggest supporters is the Airdrie Mom’s Facebook page which has 400 comments of support.

They’re now turning Thursday into “Positive Post-it Day”, where people can leave notes for one another of beauty and encouragement.

An Airdrie Staples Store is even giving away free Post-its to mark the occasion.

Organizers have been contacting other schools around the region, to see if they want to participate and the response has been overwhelming.

RCMP is investigating the locker break-in and Facebook post.
