Man shoots himself in arm while hunting coyotes

A 50-year-old man hunting coyotes on his property in the southeast shot himself in the arm.

Police say it appears to be completely accidental, and there is no reason to press charges.

Detective Jack Russell told 660News the incident happened in the 11,000 block of 146 Avenue S.E. around 7:30 p.m. Monday night.

“EMS had a 911 call from a 50-year-old male to report that he’d accidentally shot himself in the left arm while driving his truck,” Russell said. “The victim had been out hunting coyotes on his property and had a long gun across his lap when it discharged.”

The man was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
