Len Webber wins Tory nomination in Calgary Confederation

Calgary MLA Len Webber hopes it’s the first step as he blazes a new political trail.

Webber tweeted last night that he’s won the federal Tory nomination in the riding of Calgary Confederation.

Webber defeated Susanne DiCocco for the right to represent Stephen Harper’s party in the 2015 election.

The 53-year-old Webber is the MLA for Calgary Foothills.

As a prelude to the demise of former premier Alison Redford, he left the provincial PC party last spring claiming Redford was somewhat abusive in the way she treated caucus members.

He still represents the riding as an independent.
