Suspect in northwest Calgary shooting nabbed in Ontario

Less than 24 hours after a woman was shot in Calgary’s northwest, the suspect has been found several provinces away in Ontario.

Calgary police asked for the public’s help Sunday morning as they hunted for 51-year old Ulises Boris Quinteros, who they believed to be armed and dangerous.

It was in connection with an early morning shooting in Tuscany that sent a woman to hospital in critical condition.

Early Monday, police confirmed to 660News, Quinteros had been arrested by police in the Kenora area, just east of the Manitoba – Ontario border.

It’s unclear how he got there so quickly, more than 1500 km east of Calgary.

The focus for investigators right now is working out the details of bringing Quinteros back to the city.

The victim, rushed to hospital in serious condition with multiple gunshot wounds, was able to speak to police but a motive is still unclear.

Police do say the victim and suspect are known to each other.

This was the second shooting of the weekend.

Early Saturday morning, a young woman was shot to death outside an 11th Avenue nightclub in the southwest.

Police say she was an innocent bystander out with friends for the night.

The hunt continues for a suspect in that case but police only have a vague description to go on.
