Massive fire engulfs two homes in New Brighton

Two homes have been consumed by fire, and others have suffered heat damage, after a massive blaze in New Brighton.

It comes just a day after flames gutted a pair of homes in the northwest community of Kincora.

Firefighters were called to Brighton Crest Heights just before 1p.m. Tuesday, and immediately called a second alarm.

Fire spokesperson Carol Henke said, because of the scale of the fire, and the wind, they had to take extra precautions and evacuate a very large area of the neighbourhood.

“House fire smoke is very toxic, and dangerous to breathe in,” she said. “Although those homes are in no danger of burning, we still want to evacuate because of the air quality in the area.”

No injuries have been reported.
