Chestermere’s population growing

Chestermere is welcoming a lot of new residents.

The results of their 2014 census shows the town, just east of Calgary, has experienced a nine per cent growth since last year, with 17,200 people now calling it home.

It’s the most significant jump in population since 2008.

Families make up a big portion of the community, with over 30 per cent of residents under the age of 20.

Mayor Patricia Matthews says they will keep focusing on building a better community, to attract even more people.
