Teenage girl killed on highway near Rocky Mountain House

A 14-year-old girl is dead after getting hit by a pick-up truck while walking on Highway 11 west of Rocky Mountain House.
The incident happened around 9:45 p.m. Saturday night., when police got the call about a pedestrian-vehicle collision just west of the community.
It turns out the teenager was walking near an SUV on the westbound shoulder of the road when she was hit and the driver of the pick-up truck got out to offer help, but a fight broke out with those in the SUV, who took the girl in their vehicle.
However, when police arrived on scene, the SUV entered the ditch and police found several drunk people inside, along with the 14-year-old in critical condition.
Unfortunately, the girl from Eden Valley was pronounced dead on scene.
The pick-up truck suffered some significant front end damage and the driver was treated in hospital and later released.
So far there’s no word on charges, and the investigation continues.
