Pumpkin Giveaway organizers ask Calgarians to remember the food bank

Literally tons of pumpkins were given out Saturday at various Sobeys locations around Calgary.

The potential jack-o-lanterns are part of a fundraiser for the local food bank by hosts Kim and Doug Hayden asking for food or cash donations in exchange for the October staple.

It’s estimated nearly 3,000 pounds of food was bought in, a little shy of this year’s goal of 5,000.

Hayden tells 660News he hopes people will remember the food bank in Calgary still needs help, especially after the flood, and now going into the busy winter months.

He says the money and food donations raised this year are a great contribution.
