HAWCS helicopter forced to make emergency landing in S.E. field

A HAWCS helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing this morning in the city’s southeast.

Police say around 9:30 this morning the helicopter was flying in the southeast, when a warning indicator light came on in the cockpit.

Superintendent James Hardy tells 660News, the crew had to do a quick landing in a nearby field.

“There was no danger to the public,” he says, “Two officers were on board; the pilot and the flight officer. At that time there was no injury to the crew or to the airframe,” says Hardy.

An engineer repaired the helicopter on site, and they are performing maintenance to make sure the aircraft is safe.
