Deadly crash on Highway 22

Cochrane RCMP say a woman in her 70’s died on scene following a head-on collision on Highway 22 just south of the community.
The collision, around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, closed down the stretch of highway for the afternoon rush, forcing mounties to re-route traffic around the scene.
Investigators say a Ford Taurus slammed head-on with a van, which then hit an empty school bus.
The driver of the smaller vehicle died on scene, a man in his 40’s driving the van was taken to foothills with minor injuries. The bus driver wasn’t hurt and the Rockyview School Division says no children were on board at the time.
Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the wreck.
