Calgary settles for a tie again in Earth Hour

It’s as predictable as a Stampede hangover or the Toronto Maple Leafs missing the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Once again this year, Calgary had no noticeable change in power consumption during the annual Earth Hour, Saturday night.

Enmax says  that between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. any fluctuation in power use was negligible.

Residents and businesses around the world were encouraged to cut their power consumption for an hour Saturday evening.  The non-event here in Calgary continues a trend in recent years which includes the power actually spiking, increasing by 3.6% in 2008.

That year the increase in electricity use was blamed on a key Flames’ game being televised and cold weather.
