Horse meat scandal hits Alberta

A horse meat controversy in Europe is hitting Alberta hard.
The latest development had IKEA stopping sales of its Swedish meatballs in more than a dozen European countries after inspectors found horse meat in the so-called “beef products.”
Bruce Flewelling from Strathmore says he’s feeling the strain, after he was told by a facility he sends his horses to that it couldn’t accept any for the time being.
Flewelling tells The Calgary Sun the scandal has nothing to do with his animals; they’re old and crippled and not raised for slaughter.
Alberta ships horse meat to Belgium, France, Switzerland and Japan.
