Fracking townhall meetings in the works

In an effort to demystify the practice of hydraulic fracturing, the Petroleum Services Association of Canada has announced it’s gearing up to host a number of townhall meetings with impacted residents across the west.

The President of PSAC, Mark Salkeld tells 660News, after spring break up, the men and women who do the work will meet with people in communities not only in Alberta but also in British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

Salkeld says the community input will also be part of a new code of conduct the industry is putting together, a code he hopes will be in place by the end of the year.

Hydraulic fracturing which is also known as fracking is the process where water and other chemicals are injected deep underground to release trapped hydro-carbons.
