CPS passes with flying colours on audit

It’s a thumbs up for the Calgary Police Service when it comes to their criminal background searches.

According to The Calgary Herald, the Police Information Check Unit was audited by City Council.

Two data entry errors were discovered, as well as a dozen instances where it was unclear whether proper guidelines were followed, but they didn’t pose any threats to the public.

The audit determined all checks resulted in accurate assessments of the individuals requesting criminal record checks.

Police Commission Chairman Mike Shaikh said the audit was an effort to improve efficiencies with the background search process.
