Paramedic fears over disaster response

A Calgary paramedic says he’s worried the system won’t have enough resources if a disaster were to hit.
He says red alerts and long waits in hospital hallways continue and, on top of that, he says they’re also doing more inter-hospital transfers becuase that service is short-staffed.
The paramedic, who the Calgary Sun has agreed not to name, tells the paper Calgary EMS is so strapped for resources, that if a plane were to crash or there were some other sort of disaster he doesn’t think they could respond properly.
A union official admits members are frustrated and that their capacity has not kept up with population growth.
However, EMS executive director Darren Sandbeck tells the Sun, he believes they do have enough resources and are always assessing the demand.
