Calgary murderer seeking unescorted leave from prison

A Calgary woman found guilty of a heinous murder over a decade ago will appear before a parole board Wednesday, seeking unescorted passes from jail.

Deborah Point was found guilty of second degree murder in the 1999 slaying of her roommate, Audrey Trudeau, and was sentenced to 20 years in jail.

Trudeau was chopped to death with an axe; her body-parts were hidden in boxes in a garage before being discovered nearly five months later.

The Calgary Herald reports Point is seeking unescorted leaves for medical, and legal matters, as well as community activities, family visits, and personal development.
