Fire rips through SW Calgary garage

The Calgary Fire Department had its hands full Tuesday afternoon dealing with a fast-moving blaze in the southwest community of Silverado.

It began in the garage of a home along the 300 block of Silverado Plains Close around 2:00 p.m. In total, three garages were damaged by the fire, along with significant exterior damage to each of the homes.

Across the alley, a number of residences sustained siding damage because of the heat of the flames.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This is the latest in a series of house fires over recent days in Calgary.

There were two in garages in the Hamptons and Abbeydale Monday morning and two that caused even more extensive damage on the weekend.
