Fires damage two Calgary homes, families displaced

Two families have been left without a place to live, after a pair of house fires in Calgary.

Saturday night around 11 p.m., fire crews were called to Bridlemeadows Common southwest, to find flames coming from a home.

Everyone who was in the house got out safely, but the damage is so extensive, they won’t be able to return, at least for some time.

Earlier in the day, a house fire in the northeast sent a number people scrambling for safety.

The fire department was called to the blaze along Templeby Drive around 3 Saturday afternoon, but when they got there the single family home was fully engulfed in flames.

The five people who were inside at the time the fire started, managed to get out safely.

It took dozens of firefighters to bring the flames under control and keep them from spreading to neighbouring homes.

The home is heavily damaged, and residents will not be able to return at this time.

The cause of both blazes is currently under investigation.
