Calgary MP against proposed handgun ban

The Conservative MP for Calgary-Nose Hill is questioning whether a ban on legal handguns would actually prevent firearms-related violent crime in Canada.
Michelle Rempel is a legal firearms owner and uses a handgun for sport shooting.
Rempel says a handgun ban is probably is not the answer to reduce violent crime.
“Because if you’re taking away the property of law abiding people, who the statistics show don’t actually commit these crimes, and you’re ignoring, and reducing the penalties for the people who do — you’ve probably not selected the best policy decision,” she said.
Rempel made the comments in a YouTube video posted to her Twitter account Monday night.
