A 26-year-old man from Edmonton has drowned near a summer resort destination in B.C.
The incident happened early Monday, RCMP Staff Sgt. Annie Linteau said the man was trying to help someone else who had run into trouble while swimming in Mara Lake, in Sicamous.
“Our investigation determined the victim may have swam into the lake, after another man was heard yelling for help, at about 4 a.m. that morning,” said Linteau.
The other man was able to make it safely to shore.
The Edmonton man’s body was found hours later by a police boat and underwater recovery team.
