RCMP say they seized eight dogs from a hotel room today after arresting a woman in the central Alberta town of Innisfail.
Police received a complaint of a suspicious female around 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday night.
The unidentified 46-year old woman was found at a hotel and arrested.
It was believed she had dogs in her possession, despite being ordered by the courts not to have animals.
Police say they returned to the hotel this morning and found the dogs in distress.
They are asking for help from the public to determine if any of the eight dogs was stolen.
In a separate investigation, Innisfail RCMP say they received a complaint about a woman posing as a law enforcement official and asking a dog owner about the pet before allegedly attempting to take the dog.
Police are trying to determine whether the two cases are connected.
